A Fresh Slate

Believe it or not, I love New Year’s Resolutions. I think it’s a great time to reflect on your life; what you want to change, improve and leave behind. However, most of us create resolutions that do not come to pass. They are too hard, too fast and not meaningful enough to make happen. We make promises of too many things. Yes, you might want to lose 5 pounds. But probably not bad enough to take it off and keep it off any more than you were last year. So, if you really want your resolutions to stick, spend some deep thought on what you want, why you want it and how you are going to get there. (I'm talking to me, not you)

Sometimes, making your Resolution public can make a big difference, at least for me. It helps me commit when all the world hears what I want to do. So, here are just some of the things I would like to see change for my 2009.

1. Read and UNDERSTAND my scriptures (yes I know this sounds like a goal for a 12 year old)
2. Remember my Savior and what he did for me EVERYDAY
3. Patients
4. Follow through with projects, and be better organized
5. Eat better...duh
6. Complete another half marathon, this time be better prepared (so I don't die at mile 10)
7. Manage family finances better, be more mindful of what I spend, and do I REALLY need it.

OK that's enough from me. I hope you all have a fantastic 2009!

Chy of course I remember you. JD's sister. :)

I loved #5

and I've been wanting to run a half marathon for a long time and think I'm going to train this year for it.

Good job, I still haven't quite sat down and thought about it. Maybe once we get home I can ponder it more. I do agree that it is good if you write it down somewhere you look at a lot. Nolan put his on our bathroom mirror. Talk about intimidating!
